Peter Rez, a Physics Professor at Arizona State University at Tempe concludes that per screening, there's a 1:30,000,000 chance of developing fatal cancer from a single screening. So if we conclude that the average citizen takes 2 flights a year for a period of 30 years, there's a 60:30,000,00 - or 1:500,000 chance of developing fatal cancer from airport screening with backscatter X-Ray.

Statistically over 600 Americans will die of cancer from Backscatter X-Ray Airport Screening over the next 30 years.

Somebody might argue with the numbers, sure, but how far off ARE the numbers? Even if they are way off, that's still damning.

They have taken something that should be classified as medical equipment, put it in a public place, with no shielding, unprofessional operators, no protective equipment, and no warnings; and then give us a completely bogus radiation level.

Why?

Why are we doing nude x-rays of everyone including children, doing "aggressive" genital pat downs of everyone including children if it does not work or you refuse the scan, forcing removal of prosthetic limbs in public, and irradiating everyone, even those that do not go through the scanner with unknown doses of x-rays?

Because one guy they completely dropped the ball on got through wearing explosive underware.

Lets review that case, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab (the underwear bomber):

He paid cash for a one way ticket, had no luggage, previously traveled to Dubai & Yemen, had his visa revoked by the UK, and has his visa considered for revoking by the US State department but they didn't so they could catch more al-Qaeda operatives! He was put on one terror list but not the other one they needed him on...and he was walking funny (due to the explosive undies); so funny he needed help boarding the plane...and reportedly seemed nervous per other people in line... and he had trouble with his passport!

Because of this stellar lack of common sense security the American public pays the price.

Lets remember what terrorism is about: Causing terror.
